Social Action

The College Park Alumni Chapter seeks to establish social action activities that address chapter and community issues in the following categories: economic, social, political, health awareness, and legal.  The chapter's Social Action committee suggests meaningful projects that will benefit from our involvement and have a positive impact on the community.

Our Mission

To unite, encourage, promote, assist and inspire proactive advocacy for national and international causes that require Kappa activism and participation.

Recent Social Action Projects

CPAC raises money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
Every year in January, the College Park Alumni Chapter conducts its Sunday of Hope campaign to benefit the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The chapter partners with Cascade United Methodist Church in Atlanta, GA where the pastor is Rev. Marvin Moss, a 1983 initiate of the Beta Chi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi. During the church service, the chapter raises money to help St. Jude treat children suffering from cancer and other catastrophic diseases.
CPAC and Service Project
The College Park Alumni Chapter plans a service day project each year.  Pictured is the service project with the Bedford School for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. Organized by Social Action Chairman William Bryant, the service project was beautification of the school entrances. Brothers and family removed trash, dead pine straw, raked leaves, and transported trash back and forth to the dumpster. The motto for the day, "A Day On, Not A Day Off." The Bedford School is an accredited private school in Fairburn, GA for children with specific learning disabilities and ADD/ADHD. The only LD school on the Southside of Atlanta, Bedford offers small class size, a challenging academic curriculum, modern multifaceted facilities, extra-curricular activities, and summer academic and recreational programs such as Squirrel Hollow Camp, all in a structured special education setting.
CPAC Donates
The College Park Alumni Chapter gathers canned foods during the holiday to donate to the less fortunate. Pictured is a donation of five boxes of food, that included dozens of canned goods, being donated to the South Fulton Senior Center in College Park.  Brother William Bryant made the delivery to the seniors
